The 31 Onesies of January - part 1

Our Christmas theme had been great fun. So carrying on with an 'outfit of the day game' to distract us from any January blues seemed like an idea.

Penny has lots of onesies. I love the ease of them, how comfortable they are for playing, and so many of our favourite brands have the best patterns to choose from.

Week One was easy, enjoyable and full of legwarmer-happiness
(sometimes because the legs of the onesies were slightly above ankle skimming!)

Onesies are from, clockwise from top left, Next, Molo, Tesco, Four Funky Flavours, Gooey Brand, and Molo

Week two started off great, but we really did need our orders from Juicytots and Mira Mira to keep our interest in the challenge. I sold off lots of Penny's old clothes and was able to indulge in a little 'January Sales Shopping'. I bought things that will fit her now, but should last 6 months or so.

Already, I am missing her other clothes. I'm missing matching up tops and pants, tights and skirts, and all her dresses are looking very neglected in the wardrobe. What I thought would be a fun game, has become quite the challenge. There is also the issue that I don't think she has 31 onesies. Yes, she has a lot, but 31 would be ridiculous. Ahem. So, next week, I can see babygros, dungarees, and anything that has snap buttons being brought in to make up the numbers.

For now though, at the half way point, Penny is rocking the onesie look!

Happy New Year

Well, after an unscheduled break for December due to a disruption to our internet service (you know, at that time of year when watching hours of tv series on Netflix can be guilt-free? We were three episodes away from the last ever of Dexter when it crashed, not good!) we are back. We've seen the final of Dexter, had a wonderful calm Christmas, and the New Year diets have started!

If you've been following us on Instagram , you'll know we had lots of fun in the run up to Christmas. Every day was a Christmas outfit day. We totally stole the idea from my friend, who dressed her son in Christmas-costumes a few years ago, creating the cutest advent calendar. He was everything from a pudding to a reindeer, to…a CHRISTMAS TREE!

Pennys best friend in Sydney also joined in. While her outfits were tshirts and summer skirts, Penny was layered up for our winter weather. Both babies looked ridiculously cute every morning. Maria and I enjoyed the challenge. The hashtag #ootdgames was created and we've followed through with #31dresses of January and #31onesies of January. Blogpost on getting to the halfway point in January to follow.

But for now, here are the girls in their Christmas outfits.

Window-Shopping Wednesday

Penny's wardrobe is very full. As is her chest of drawers. The 8 basket ikea unit is fairly packed too....and that was meant for 'overflow'. She's a dainty little thing who doesn't grow out of clothes as quickly as I spot things that she just has to have. She can literally wear a different outfit every day, for a long long time. Also, despite numerous attempts, my money tree saplings in the back garden, just aren't taking.... So my wallet can't keep up with all the amazing things I see online.

I don't want to stop checking out my favourite shops, even if I'm not ordering straight away. There are some fab new things in stock. Here are a selection of what we have been popping onto our wish list.

Mira Mira is my local go-to store. They have every pretty thing you can imagine, and their products are fair trade. I'll be doing a dedicated post to this amazing shop in the future, but, when they posted that Blankies were back in stock, they went straight to the top of my Christmas list. In an ideal world, every member of the family would have one. They are amazing bright colours, incredibly cosy and so soft. Everyone should ask Santa for one! When you buy one, during the month of November, your name goes into a draw to win another one.

While coveting the Blankies, I couldn't help noticing these Mary-Ann Ruffle pants from Iglo. They are soft, comfortable and casual, while being pretty and girly too!

While I'm all for colour, and usually think being a kid is all about wearing as many bright colours as possible, the coolness of these Moi baggy pants could make me change my opinion! They are organic fair-trade cotton too.

On Daisychain Baby 's site, these were the items I found hardest to resist.

The red and pink stripe baby joggers by Piccalilly look so comfy, and the little feature pocket is super sweet. Baby clothes with pockets make me so happy.

I am absolutely mad about anything fairytale themed. This Helen Gordon, Hansel and Gretal playsuit is beyond cute.

Who doesn't love hedgehogs? Those little faces! This little guy even has a polkadot tummy. Long sleeved tshirt is from Piccalilly.

Juicytots is without a doubt, one of my favourite stores. There isn't much left for my wish list from them, because I own a heap of their stock already. Especially the Kitschycoo pants.

The Tootsa Macginty jumpers are the cutest knitwear that I've ever seen. Especially this one. Details like the little toadstool on the sleeve make me swoon.

Ever since Penny was very small, Smafolk have been a favourite of ours. The slim fit suits her petite frame, and even after numerous washes, they look brand new. The Scandinavian style pattern on this dress is perfect for Christmas, but the colour palette means it won't have to leave the wardrobe rotation when the festivites are over.

Baby Goes Retro posted this new label Pixmie on their Facebook page today, and these two tshirts may fall into our cart by the weekend. I think Penny will need some new tshirts for next summer.

Themes make me happy. This cupcake tshirt from the same brand Pixmie would be perfect for baking days, or birthdays!

Shoes Day Tuesday

I'm a girl, therefore I love shoes. Thats normal, right? I have always loved unusual shoes, colourful (of course) shoes, and most often, HIGH heeled shoes. I'm a little shortie at only 4 foot 11, any extra few inches added are gladly welcomed. Be that from a trilby on my head, or extremely high heel.

Soon after I had Penny, I realised that I now have another person to buy shoes for. She wore soft soled shoes for ages and ages, but finally, at 14 months she started walking and the shoe shelf (ahem) in her wardrobe could finally come into its own. WOO!

Livie and Luca are one of our favourite brands. A friend bought a pair for her daughter, having spent over a month researching her first shoes. She was thrilled with them, and told me of the excellent quality and how soft the leather was. I had a quick look at the site and saw cowboy boots. That was it, I was hooked. I needed my daughter to own cowboy boots. She already has two pairs (on that shoe shelf!) for when she's about five, but I am possibly the least patient person ever. These were just fabulous.

I also ordered two more pairs. One in the same size, and one in the next size up.

They arrived so fast, and the customer service was superb. The smell of quality leather is delicious when you open the box. The zip makes them easy to put on a wriggly toddler.
Penny loves them.

If you are in Dublin, and prefer to see some of the selection in the flesh rather than pictures online, Cherish Me in Balinteer have them in their showroom
