Window-Shopping Wednesday

Penny's wardrobe is very full. As is her chest of drawers. The 8 basket ikea unit is fairly packed too....and that was meant for 'overflow'. She's a dainty little thing who doesn't grow out of clothes as quickly as I spot things that she just has to have. She can literally wear a different outfit every day, for a long long time. Also, despite numerous attempts, my money tree saplings in the back garden, just aren't taking.... So my wallet can't keep up with all the amazing things I see online.

I don't want to stop checking out my favourite shops, even if I'm not ordering straight away. There are some fab new things in stock. Here are a selection of what we have been popping onto our wish list.

Mira Mira is my local go-to store. They have every pretty thing you can imagine, and their products are fair trade. I'll be doing a dedicated post to this amazing shop in the future, but, when they posted that Blankies were back in stock, they went straight to the top of my Christmas list. In an ideal world, every member of the family would have one. They are amazing bright colours, incredibly cosy and so soft. Everyone should ask Santa for one! When you buy one, during the month of November, your name goes into a draw to win another one.

While coveting the Blankies, I couldn't help noticing these Mary-Ann Ruffle pants from Iglo. They are soft, comfortable and casual, while being pretty and girly too!

While I'm all for colour, and usually think being a kid is all about wearing as many bright colours as possible, the coolness of these Moi baggy pants could make me change my opinion! They are organic fair-trade cotton too.

On Daisychain Baby 's site, these were the items I found hardest to resist.

The red and pink stripe baby joggers by Piccalilly look so comfy, and the little feature pocket is super sweet. Baby clothes with pockets make me so happy.

I am absolutely mad about anything fairytale themed. This Helen Gordon, Hansel and Gretal playsuit is beyond cute.

Who doesn't love hedgehogs? Those little faces! This little guy even has a polkadot tummy. Long sleeved tshirt is from Piccalilly.

Juicytots is without a doubt, one of my favourite stores. There isn't much left for my wish list from them, because I own a heap of their stock already. Especially the Kitschycoo pants.

The Tootsa Macginty jumpers are the cutest knitwear that I've ever seen. Especially this one. Details like the little toadstool on the sleeve make me swoon.

Ever since Penny was very small, Smafolk have been a favourite of ours. The slim fit suits her petite frame, and even after numerous washes, they look brand new. The Scandinavian style pattern on this dress is perfect for Christmas, but the colour palette means it won't have to leave the wardrobe rotation when the festivites are over.

Baby Goes Retro posted this new label Pixmie on their Facebook page today, and these two tshirts may fall into our cart by the weekend. I think Penny will need some new tshirts for next summer.

Themes make me happy. This cupcake tshirt from the same brand Pixmie would be perfect for baking days, or birthdays!

Shoes Day Tuesday

I'm a girl, therefore I love shoes. Thats normal, right? I have always loved unusual shoes, colourful (of course) shoes, and most often, HIGH heeled shoes. I'm a little shortie at only 4 foot 11, any extra few inches added are gladly welcomed. Be that from a trilby on my head, or extremely high heel.

Soon after I had Penny, I realised that I now have another person to buy shoes for. She wore soft soled shoes for ages and ages, but finally, at 14 months she started walking and the shoe shelf (ahem) in her wardrobe could finally come into its own. WOO!

Livie and Luca are one of our favourite brands. A friend bought a pair for her daughter, having spent over a month researching her first shoes. She was thrilled with them, and told me of the excellent quality and how soft the leather was. I had a quick look at the site and saw cowboy boots. That was it, I was hooked. I needed my daughter to own cowboy boots. She already has two pairs (on that shoe shelf!) for when she's about five, but I am possibly the least patient person ever. These were just fabulous.

I also ordered two more pairs. One in the same size, and one in the next size up.

They arrived so fast, and the customer service was superb. The smell of quality leather is delicious when you open the box. The zip makes them easy to put on a wriggly toddler.
Penny loves them.

If you are in Dublin, and prefer to see some of the selection in the flesh rather than pictures online, Cherish Me in Balinteer have them in their showroom

Throwback Thursday

To start the series of Throwback Thursdays, lets start with Penny's very first outfit.

Now, it might just look like a babygro but so much thought went into what she would first wear. A crazy hormonal amount of thought. I wanted something bright, not pastel, and I wanted girly. We love colour, and I wanted to start a colourful trend with her nice and early. I packed and unpacked so many things (its ok, I'm laughing now too) but finally made the decision to bring this babygro from a two pack from Next for a girl. It was a happy coincidence that my nail colour matches perfectly!

The option for a boy was a babygro with little duckies on it from the sale rack in Mothercare. She wore it when she was a week old. (I'm all for unisex clothing)

Both outfits had orange in them, and since I adore the babygro and little cardigan look, my mum got to work on crocheting a little cardi to match. With BEE buttons!!! I loved it. She was tiny though and both the babygro and cardi were swimming on her.

As I looked through these early photos, I found Penn's first ever #standingbythewall photo. What a wall to choose too! In her Daddys arms, (hes the lovely baldy guy!) in his office reception wearing her first ever carefully chosen 'look'. At only 8 hours old.
Yes, we did go straight from the hospital to show her off at his work. Lets blame those hormones again. Uncle Mark was THIS delighted to meet her though, so it was worth it!

Happy in her Nappy

My phone rang. I'm out. But, lovely postman was kind enough to say he'll leave the package for me, and it would be there when I got home. Hurray. Overhearing our friendly exchange, Paul asks with a hint of eye rolling, "does the post man know your PHONE NUMBER now? Em, yes. but only cause I gave it to him.

The excitement. I have been waiting for this package for ages. These four items have been top of our list of 'wants' since we saw a drawing of them at the end of the summer. Finally they are here, and they are GORGEOUS! Bright colours, cheerful designs and one of our favourite brands.

These items are.....cloth nappies. Yes, four things that will be pooped and peed in, but will look adorable in the meantime. We had even ordered babylegs and tshirts to match in preparation. Bees, rainbows and toadstools.

Im not really sure what happened to me. Somewhere between having to finally give up on my always-worn high heels at about 8 months pregnant and this past weekend, tearing the place apart to find my teal patent winter boots with the 5 inch heel, a little bit of earth mother hippiness crept out.

Nothing to do with saving the planet, although, hey, thats always a bonus. I spent a good 8 months laughing, even scoffing at all the assumed hard work some of my friends were giving themselves, by using reusable nappies. But then, I saw some of the patterns. I heard whispers of limited edition prints. There were mentions of collections. I did a little research. And bought ALL THE NAPPIES. Well, not quite, but, Im getting there.

Tots Bots are my favourite, and twice they have teamed up with Frugi to bring out a selection of nappies, and the prints are really cute. They have clothes to match, for those of us who love a bit of coordinating and they are super easy to use and wash.

The new nappies #standingbythewall

These are the the babylegs we had bought weeks in advance of the nappies arriving! They are from Mama runs with scissors

In the midst of all the bees and rainbows and foxes with flowers, Tots Bots announced they were releasing a new Christmas limited edition nappy. Hot footing it over to my favourite Irish nappy site Anniepooh to order,  the new gingerbread family print will be arriving care of our friendly postman late next week.

Monthly Photo Monday

We've been taking a photo of Penny every day month in the same chair so we can watch her grow.

It used to be an easy peasy thing to do. Stick sticker (from Etsy) on her vest, prop her up on the seat, and shoot. Not so much these days, she has her own ideas on what she wants to wear, where she wants to sit, where she would prefer to stick that sticker ('nose mama, nose?') and whether she will oblige me with a smile or not.

Today was a no smile day.

But now that we have sixteen months of photos, it makes for a nice collection. She was so dinky 15 months ago. I love that she went slightly chubby around 8 months, after she had been on solids for a while, and then slimed down again to her petite little self again once she'd started crawling everywhere at 11months. Im delighted we've been doing this. Proof that she is growing!

Go Stand By A Wall!

Here goes.
Dipping my toe in.... dip dip...

Introducing Susan and Penelope. A mama and baby team, who, together with a 'bulging at the seams' children's wardrobe, aim to play dress up everyday.

Following a fun 50 something days of Penny  #standingbythewall on instagram, a few followers suggested I should blog about her outfits. Sort of a red carpet "what are you wearing darrrlinnng?" type thing for babies and their parents.

I'd love followers to tag photos of their babies, children, girlfriends, parents, and even strangers on the street, and contribute to this blog. On twitter and instagram, use the tags #standingbythewall and @standingbythewallpics

So get dressed, stand by a wall, and take a picture..... its fun!
